Email Settings
To check and send email, you first need an email account added to our mail
servers. To add, delete, or modify accounts, please contact our office Monday -
Friday 9am - 5pm. You can email
support@BeaconNet.com anytime. 24/7
telephone-based technical support is available at 610-444-9008.
After your account is setup on our servers, you need to access your account to
send and receive messages. You can configure your own email program or use webmail.
Beacon Webmail is popular if you are traveling or frequently move from computer to
computer.
We recommend Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express. These programs and many others
have setup wizards which will walk you through the process of configuring a new
email account on your computer. These wizards are
usually found in the Tools | Accounts or Tools | E-mail Accounts section of your
mail program.
Here are some tips to configure your email program:
Basic Options:
-
Username: first part of email address (as
in username if your email address is username@kennett.net)
-
Incoming / POP3 server: keywest.BeaconNet.com
-
Outgoing / SMTP server: keywest.BeaconNet.com
Advanced Options:
-
SMTP Authentication: Same
username/password as incoming POP3 mail server.
-
Security Options: We permit SSL encryption for both
SMTP and POP3. We do not permit SPA.
-
Alternate SMTP Port: If you connect
to our mail server from another ISP, the other ISP may block your SMTP
email. To work-around this issue, change the SMTP port from 25 to 366 and be
sure to enable SMTP authentication (see above).
